Manual Handling

These courses complies with Health and Safety legislation, more importantly it educates participants as to the benefits of good manual handling and train them in the most up to date manual handling practices. 

Manual Handling, like First Aid is a skill for life not just for work.

Manual Handling Course

Course Duration: 4 Hours.
Number per course: 10 per instructor.
Course content: 

  • Legislation
  • Anatomy & Injuries
  • Biomechanics
  • Principles of Safe Handling
  • Inanimate Lifting Techniques

People Moving Course

Course Duration: 8 Hours.
Number per course: 8 per instructor.
Course content: All content of Manual Handling course plus:

  • People moving techniques
  • - Use of verbal techniques
    - Use of equipment; slide sheets, banana board, turntables
    - Push pulling techniques; wheelchair 
    - Team moving
Manual handling of loads means-

-any transporting or supporting of a load by one or more employees and includes lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving a load, which, by reason of its characteristics or of unfavourable ergonomic conditions, involves risk, particularly of back injury, to employees."

Effect of serious injuries due to manual handling can be loss of income, physical disability (temporary or permanent), Isolation and depression. Remember manual handling is not just for the workplace.
